Family Friendly Walks
Loch an Eileen
Our favourite family friendly walks include a gentle stroll along the peaceful forest paths that loop around Loch an Eileen, loch of the island. The circular route is approximately 5km of forest trails, suitable for all the family, even our younger guests in an all terrain buggy.
Aviemore to Boat of Garten (Speyside Way)
Another easy route is part of the Speyside Way from Aviemore to Boat of Garten. Here you follow the golf course and railway line through the woods for approximately 8km, with spectacular views of the Cairngorms to your right. If little legs can’t make the round trip, you could head home on the steam train.
Lochan Uaine
A walk up to Lochan Uaine is another firm favourite and it must be one of the most beautiful lochs in the area. Locally known as the Green Lochan, legend has it that pixies washed their clothes here resulting in it’s magical greenish tinge. You can do this walk as an in and out through the Scots pines, or a more circular walk, which when continued up to the Ryvoan Bothy makes this walk about 10km.
Cairn Gorm
There are also a number of easy-ish walks that can be accessed from the Cairngorm mountain carpark, including Cairn Gorm itself. The Windy Ridge Path is well maintained and takes you all the way to the top, making it easy for beginners.
Munro-bagging
There are plenty of more challenging walks suitable for the experienced walker & Munro bagger.
